Morning Smoothie

Every morning for the past few months I have been making a smoothie, even on my days off of work. I have tried several different kinds of fruit and seeds. I have found a mixture of seeds and grains that I add to my smoothie and I have found it filling and nutritious and I know what goes into it, unlike some of these drink mixes that have been advertised as of late. Here is what I put in my smoothie every morning.

Chef Patricia’s Smoothie

1 cup frozen fruit (any combination you like)

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup orange juice (I use frozen to save money)

1/4 cup grain/seed mixture (recipe to follow)

Combine in blender and drink.

You can also add other things to the smoothie as you like I add collagen every day to help rebuild cartilage, helps with stiff joints. I also add an emergen-c packet for the vitamins.

Power Grain Mix

In an air tight container of your choosing combine the following:

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup chia seeds

1 cup flax seeds

1 cup quinoa

This will last you about 2 weeks in an air tight container. I tried grinding the mixture together into a powder but it went rancid too quickly.

So I recommend keeping all ingredients whole.
